Buddy Holly tribute

I explain my love for music in the 1950s and 1960s here. But what makes Buddy Holly stand out above the rest for me? By the time of his death in 1959, he had already recorded many songs that have stood the test of time and become timeless classics, despite only being 22. His vocal style was unique and remains instantly recognisable today. I love his style of playing the guitar and I also love the way he would move about on stage. Although any tribute act is always going to come a poor second best compared to the real thing, it is such great fun putting on the dinner suit, bow tie, Ray Ban glasses, plugging the Fender Stratocaster into an amplifier and pretending to be Buddy Holly for a night. His appeal remains great to this day and audiences always warm to hearing his songs. As much as I enjoy playing the Buddy Holly songs, there still needs to be a little bit of variety in the show and I also love to play the hits of Eddie Cochran, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and The Everly Brothers.
