About the show
Opening the night with Dion and The Belmonts, the first spot concentrates on the late 1950s and 1960s featuring songs by Gerry and The Pacemakers, The Turtles, Simon and Garfunkel and The Everly Brothers. In most venues, the volume is kept low at this stage in order to enable quiet conversation to take place without members of the audience having to strain to hear themselves think!
Continuing along this theme, the second spot features Elvis Presley, The Beatles and Manfred Mann. At this point, the volume might creep up ever so slightly although the requests of the venue are always strictly adhered to!
The third spot is an electrifying Buddy Holly tribute. Opening with one of his most popular songs Oh Boy, unforgettable classics such as Peggy Sue, That’ll Be The Day, Heartbeat, Maybe Baby and Rave On all make an appearance along with Johnny B Goode by Chuck Berry, La Bamba by Ritchie Valens and Eddie Cochran’s Summertime Blues. At this point the volume has normally been turned up with many people by now on the dance floor.
At no point however is any attempt ever made to destroy the windows of the venue with excessive volume!
